ReadyNAS NV+ connected directly to iMac via Ethernet - Sonos app cannot find library

Hi,

In my restructuring of my music services, I moved my ReadyNAS NV+ from my computer room to the same location as my iMac. Previously, when I had my NV+ attached through the Sonos network box, then into my Apple Extreme Base Station, all accesses to my Sonos music library worked fine via wifi. But instead of relying on wireless access to the Sonos, I wanted to be hard-wired into my network. So I brought the NV+ into our Family Room and hooked it directly into my iMac using a Gigabit Ethernet cable attached from the NV+ to my iMac. I then booted my iMac, and my NV + showed up fine under Shared Storage. iTunes from the iMac worked great.

Once I got my NV+ and iTunes all squared away, I wanted to allow my Sonos desktop controller - which runs on my iMac - to connect to the same library. But after hours of fiddling with the setup of the Sonos app, I just cannot get Sonos' library parameters correctly, so that it too can access my iTunes library.

Under System Preferences/Ethernet, the IPV4 address is 192.168.168.167, with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 . Every time I either use the IPV4 address, or the normal address, the Sonos IPV4 is "not found". If I try \\readynas\newmusic\music, a username and password dialog pops which I fill in as michaelferrari & my iMac's password. But as soon as I do this, I got a "Sonos was unable to add the music folder. The computer "ReadyNAS cannot be found" !

Very frustrating!!!

Does anyone have an idea how I allow the Sonos app to connect to my music on the hard wired NV+
