Long time Sonos user. Very happy overall. My setup is multiple rooms in a one bedroom apartment with either a Play 3 or Play 5. The living room previously had a Sonos Connect hooked up to an A/V receiver. I bought a Playbar with the idea of replacing the A/V receiver, Sonos Connect (ZP 90), and speaker system connected to the A/V receiver. I have an Apple Airport Express connected to a Play 5 in one of my rooms to "hack" Airplay support into the Sonos (as is officially endorsed by Sonos).
Thus, my old setup had two "Line Ins" - One from the Airport Express on the Play 5, and one in the living room, from the ZP 90 to the A/V receiver. I always used GROUP ALL mode because I live alone and regardless of what I'm playing, I want it to play simultaneously in all of the rooms. That worked great for a long time.
Now with the PlayBar, I lose one of my LINE IN sources (the ZP90) and instead, it's called TV on the Select Music Source screen of the remote app. A little bit of a hassle, because now switching between the two sources requires an extra click (because I have to go into "LINE IN" as one click before selecting the Play 5 as the second click), but not too big of a complaint to simplify my living room setup. Previously, I just stayed in the LINE IN activity and single clicked to swap inputs. One extra click isn't too big of a deal.
The annoying complaint I have is when I switch between TV and LINE IN (Play5 aka Airport Express). I get an error warning "This will stop the TV audio. Are you sure you want to continue?" Considering that my usage involves switching back and forth between the Living Room and the Airplay no less than 100 times per day, that's going to be a deal-breaker for me. Now I have two new clicks to do what I do a significant number of times each day.
I can understand that some people might accidentally switch away from the TV input so having a warning message might prevent the idiots from doing that, but I can't seem to turn the message off. It's fixed and it occurs each and every time I want to switch inputs. Perhaps the remote could be changed with a checkbox that says "Do Not Warn Again"? Yes, I clicked it. I know I clicked it. I want to do what I clicked it to do. Please just do it without warning me. It's just changing the input, it's not a command to format and zero out my harddrive, so I don't need a mandatory warning message.
This isn't the first time with technology that I feel like my needs are compromised in order to avoid stupid idiots from screwing something up. Fortunately I have another 40 days left in my free-return period and will return it if the remote software doesn't get optimized in that time. The lack of DTS sucks, but isn't a deal breaker for me. This annoying ridiculous warning that is forced each and every time just seems like a horrible design decision that could be fixed with a few lines of code if they want to fix it.
If you guys wanted to make my life as simple as it was before, you could turn the PlayBar into a "LINE IN" (perhaps in addition to it being "TV", and then switching inputs would be one click again, rather than three (multiplied by 100 times each day, multiplied by 365 days a year).
