OK. Maybe this will spare someone else some pain.
I was sitting in my room and was going to play some of my music from my library. That music is stored on my NAS. For some reason I couldn't play any of my music - but I could see tracks in the library. I kept getting 1002 and unavailable errors... Arrgh. Network issue? I have an interesting network - combination of powerline networking and wiresless. But I hadn't had any issues until now. So...
I cleared the queue...
No luck.
First a 1002 error and then a "Sharename not available" or "Sharename denied".
What?
I restarted the NAS.
No luck.
I removed the shares from the library and added them back in (3 or 4 times)
No luck.
I updated the NAS firmware.
Removed and added back the shares to the library.
No luck.
I created a new user on the NAS - and removed and remapped the shares to the library using this new user.
No luck.
Again removed and added back the shares - no user this time.
NO LUCK.
Arrgh.
Then took a break. I watched some TV. Then I used my Sonos Connect on my AV rig and it was playing my library fine... Whaggghh?
So having come from a technical background and having done production support on billion dollar systems - I decided to do to my Sonos what I did for those systems when things got weird...
I unplugged it - and then plugged back in.
Problem solved....
So when in doubt if a single player is giving you odd network things - unplug and plug it back in...
Crikey...
