Hi All,
I had been reading up a lot on Sonos lately and went for the auditioning of the Playbar & Play 3 yesterday. Came back amazed with the product and quite impressed with the sound quality.
However I am a bit confused with how this would fit in my current requirements and hence would appreciate any inputs/advice that anyone could offer.
All my media is managed by a mac mini server which is my primary source of media. Itunes as well as plex server currently run on the mac mini. I have another room where I have a imac, ps3, and projector setup. I use the projector to play games and watch movies (through plex on imac). The sound setup is currently handled by a 3.5mm jack to a 2.1 audio system. This is the one that I am hoping to replace with a play bar, however have the following queries:
a. Is there an alternative to terminate the 3.5mm sound source to the currently optical only on the PlayBar ? Is there an add on device that could handle this ?
b. Another option I was exploring was to buy 2 Play 3s and use them as stereo speakers for the Imac. While I understand that this setup works for all music playing through the sonos application, but is there a way to use Play 3 as a speaker fo r the Imac as well ?
What I would love to do is have the Play bar as target for imac (movies) and games (ps3) and 2 X Play 3 as standard speakers for Imac. While I am watching movies, these play 3 could then become the surround for the above setup.
Given my limited understanding, I am not sure if this would be the best setup or if this setup would even work. I would certainly appreciate advice that anyone could have for me on this.
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Raj
