Problem with SAMBA library

Hi everyone and i hope you can help me with a problem i am having with my new Sonos system that has me totally stumped.

I have a play3 and a bridge all working fine playing from spotify. I also want to add a library of MP3 files which i have on an external USB HDD. When I connect the disk directly to my XP laptop and index the folder in SONOS everything works fine and all 20K or so tracks are imported no problem and all folders from the share are visible in the SONOS "Folders" view.

However, having the laptop on all day is not ideal so i have plugged the HDD directly into the router (vigor2750n) and setup a SAMBA server. I can now access and play the files through windows Media Player using the path \\#.#.#.#\Share and everything looks fine.

Now i use the third option in the SONOS indexer and put in the path, enter the login details (the FTP account i setup on the router) and off it goes. However, this time about half of the folders are completely missing once indexing finishes. As a test, i tried just indexing one of the missing folders on its own. It works fine and imports all the music in that sub-directory so there doesn't seem to be anything intrinsically wrong with the access or the files themselves.

I've tried reindexing several times and it always seems to be the same folders that go missing. What reasons could there be for the exact same library to index when connected locally but fail in this way when connected to the router?

I've got the Sonos Support Info XML file if that is any help.

David
