Where should I put my connect amp

I am having an extension built at the moment and have bought some ceiling speakers and have ordered a Sonos connect amp.

I am planning to put the amp out of the way in the bedroom. The speakers are in the room underneath.

Is this a good idea. Should the amp be in the same room as the speakers?

I am assuming that if I control everything via my iPhone/iPad it doesn't matter if the amp is in a different room?

Interested to know people's thoughts?

( I have to decide by Monday morning as the electrician is coming then to start first fix on the new build)
