Sonos sub - will it remove base from paired connect:amp speakers?

I have a number of Sonos components and they work perfectly. To remove wires and clutter from the kitchen I have replaced the Play5 with two in-ceiling speakers (Monitor Audio CT265-IDC) connected to a connect:amp.

I knew bass would leak upwards and I have got a hoody fitted as well as insulation but I want to minimise it further and thought the Sub could do it.

How does the sub work, will it stop the need for the speakers to produce low frequencies ie bass and it take over leaving the speakers to handle the middle and higher ranges? If so, then that could help me as the bass will be stopped from travelling upwards by the ceiling containing the bass to the kitchen.

There are EQ settings on the connect:amp, what would happen if I put the bass down low, I assume that would lower the bass produced from the sub? If this is the case then the added bass produced from the Sub may compensate for the change to the EQ.

Any advice?
