Happy Sonos customers - at any age

Hello,

This forum is a great place to talk about issues some of us have with Sonos products, share ideas and provide some help whenever we can.
But sometimes, someone chimes in here just to share how happy he is with his Sonos product(s) and today I want to be one of them.

I have been a Sonos "customer" for only 8 months now, but very enthusiastic from the start. My Sonos set up consists of two Play:5s configured in stereo and a Playbar bonded with a Sub. But my latest purchase has not been for me, but a gift for my parents and the gift was so well received that I want to share my joy!

My parents are both 67 years old right now. They have both enjoyed listening to music for a long time now and my passion for music is for sure partially due to scrolling through their music collection as a kid and teenager.
But a few years ago they moved to a new (beautiful) house and they haven't had a real good music system since then.

At Christmas, I decided that this had to stop and I bought them a modest AirPlay music system. Despite his age, my dad spends a lot of time on his computer and he managed to rip all his CD collection into MP3. It was a modest gift, but they liked it.
Nevertheless, it was sonically very limited (although already much better than anything they had in the house...) and the Airplay part gave them a lot of trouble. At that time, I thought that Sonos may be too "techie" for them, but I stay corrected!

Indeed, later I heard that my dad was looking for a soundbar! He was searching for better sound for their TV because they often have music channels on, or radio through the TV. But they were also looking for simplicity, thinking about Bose Solo or similar products. They are not the type that will spend thousands of bucks into this kind of technology.
I decided I had to step in and offer them the Sonos Playbar! My parents don't care about 5.1 (and the DTS issues), they want a simple, good looking and good sounding solution for their main (big) room.

Well, the Playbar has been a huge hit for them!! For a month now, every time I have one of my parents on the telephone, they always mention how the Playbar is playing music almost all day and how great it is and how they've never listened to that much music before etc.
With a Deezer account and the Sonos radios, I don't even think digitalized versions of their CDs would be necessary, even though it is really a plus!
And it didn't hurt when good friends of my parents who came over the day I set up the PlayBar said, without even knowing where the Playbar came from, "wow, this is impressive, it's just like the band is sitting right next to us"...

The very satisfying sound quality, nice design, simplicity, ease of use (like setting the volume with the TV remote control, which is a real plus compared to other Sonos products) and easy access to a whole lot of music largely, very largely, overcomes some of the disdvantages of the product (no DTS support, usually only stereo coming in from the TV, etc.), especially for people like my parents!
My mother is not a technology fan by any means, but Sonos was so simple and provided so much joy that she was hooked by the first day! And it gave her a nice use for the Samsung Galay phone she had but was under-utilizing.
I think Sonos has huge potential for many more users than technology-aware people. So spread the word! Personally, I am already planning to collect money from family to introduce little Sonos friends to the Playbar.

Thanks to all the people on this forum for all the insightful information shared over here, which made me like Sonos even before I purchased my first item!
