Im looking for help here as my connection (iphone) to my Sonos is intermittent, ie sometimes its finds the Sonos players and can play but then often cuts out.
The set-up I have is possibly non-standard however a similar set up worked previously.
Previously the router was contained in the basement of my house, sonos bridge was connected to this. However the router connected to my mac (also in the basement) via wifi rather than thro an ethernet cable
I had a wifi extender on the first floor of the house.
I had 2 sonos players, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Everything worked perfectly. Music could be played streamed from my mac and radio was fine.
Recently we had to change the position of the router as the internet connection was slow.
And since then Ive had problems getting the system to work.
Currently the router is on the ground floor. I still have a wifi extender on the first floor and there is one now in the basement (internet was faster this way). Initially I connected the Sonos bridge to the router as before but this refused to connect up with my mac in the basement. I then decided to put the Sonos bridge in the basement connected to the wifi extender thro an Ethernet cable.
So when I am in the basement my controller (iphone, ipad) is able to control the music on my two players (ground floor and first floor) without a problem. However when I move out of the basement the controller generally fails to find any Sonos component. I find that rebooting my iphone allows some form of connection but this often cuts out during play.
I appreciate this is probably a non-standard set up and any advice would be appreciated. Or if anyone has a better solution to this when the router is on one floor and the mac (containing music) is on another again that would be appreciated. Shifting the router and/or mac is not an option at present.
