Airport Express -> Sonos Connect -> Amp

Hi, did a bit of reading but couldn't quite find an answer to my thoughts/ questions. If they have been discussed, apologies and just point me to the right thread.

I like the convenience of AirPlay to stream to from different sources (iTunes Genius, Spotify, etc) and love the Sonos to distribute to different zones.

Yes, the Sonos can access most of the sources directly, but not always with the same functionality.

In the moment I ended up with the Airport Express hooked up to the analog in of the Sonos Connect. So the Airport does the digital to analog conversion and I am guessing that a $100 device will not have the worlds best DAC build in. The Connect again is hooked up to the optical in of my amp (Denon 1906), so the amp does a conversion again before anything reaches the speakers (Canton Bookshelf speakers).

Even I can see that this is probably not a smart setup.

But what should I be doing?

Option 1: Do nothing. with my amp And speakers I will not here much difference anyway.

Option 2: change the connection between Connect to amp to analog, at least that eliminates one conversion.

Option 3: put an external DAC between Connect and amp, so that this conversion is done at high quality, but still the signal has already been converted by the Apple.

Option 4: put a DAC between Airport and Connect. Continue to amp analog.

...

To many options, how would you go about it?
