I blew my wad on my 1st mcintosh (dac related)

and new speakers (legacy focus hd) and, room acoustics aside, I'm hoping I could achieve a better tonality on purchasing a new dac?

I did see another member recommending a Cary 306/200 which is a bit beyond what I'd like to spend.

Someone else suggested Wyred 4 Sound DAC1 or DAC2 for about 1k which I could do but I'd rather not.

By budget I was hoping no more than 750.

Is this possible?

I was looking at the arcam sonlink and I'm not sure if the sole input is a deal breaker.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. the mac is a ma6500, no digital in
