Wireless and Sonosnet Coverage

Hi,

I after a little guidance on the best way to solve a new problem I've got. I've just purchased the Playbar and very happy with its performance. I've moved my Play:3 out to the kitchen as a consequence. My home router is in the study at the top of the house and has the Bridge plugged into it. That means the Playbar receives the Sonosnet signal fine and despite the fact that the Play:3 (now in the kitchen) is just outside the house WiFi coverage the Playbar extends the Sonosnet coverage to include it (I think!).

The problem comes because I use either my iPhone or iPad to control Sonos and if I'm in the kitchen my iDevices are outside the WiFi coverage and thus can't access the router (thus Bridge and thus Sonosnet). At the moment I have to walk back into the dining room to get WiFi coverage to control Sonos.

Am I right in thinking I can plug an access point into the ethernet port in the Play:3 to extend the home WiFi? If so, could somebody suggest a suitable (and hopefully cheap) product and how it should be set up? I have got an old Netgear DG834Gv3 router; can I set this up as a suitable access point?

If I've got the wrong end of the stick and I can't extend the WiFi with an access point - how can I solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Wally
