As for the speed of loading album artwork from a reasonably fast QNAP NAS on for example an iPad/iPhone my experience using folder.jpg images of 500*500pix is:
-It only loads the artwork visible on the screen, so every time you scroll you have to wait. This is annoying; it should load all covers in a list at least the next 50 or so.
-Artworks does not load while you are scrolling. This gives a less fluid experience than one would expect.
-It takes several seconds (between 3s and 5 s) to load each "page" of new artwork
All in all I'm wondering if it would help buying a SSD for the NAS since it could then possibly find/load the artwork quicker. The cost of a SSD is not a problem for me if it solves the issue. Or if there are other tricks to make the artwork appear faster? I love the Sonos in general, but this problem is "killing me".
