For some time now BT have been offering me a BB upgrade as they have been laying in fibre optic cabling in my area. I was thinking about it, but the latest letter I received today says they are going to upgrade me to BT Infinity anyway at no extra cost or charges or changes to my contract - all I have to do is phone up and arrange for an engineer to come to my house to do the work, which includes connecting up to a single PC.
My worry is that I currently have a good reliable and fast enough (for my needs) BB connection already. My router is set up with loads of fixed IP addresses and of course the channels are all set up to ensure I get a trouble free Sonos experience.
So The reason for this post is to see if any of you guys have been through this upgrade and what your experience was?
I particularly wasnt to know:
1. Where does the fibre cable end and copper take over - in the street, at point of entry to the house or right up to my modem?
2. Will I need a new modem - I currently have a HH3?
3. Will they do a survey first as I have re-routed their cable and hope any new cable will follow the same route?
Any info from you guys will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
