New to the Sonos thing, and loving it. Hoping you smart people here can help.
I have a Passport external drive connected to my iMac by USB. Sonos can't play the music on the Passport because its formatted as FAT32 (I assume that's the problem, right?). I'm running Lion - OSX 10.7.5. If I move the Passport to connect it directly to my Netgear router (which has a USB input), will Sonos be able to read it now that Sonos would not be "going through" the iMac? Or is the FAT32 format still problematic? If it CAN read it, would I not have the playlists that I created in iTunes?
If Sonos still can't read a FAT32 drive connected to the router, would I be better off buying an NAS or a new USB drive to format as HFS+. I'm unclear on the advantages of an NAS.
Thanks to all you Sonos-it-alls.;)
