Questions re SONOS capabilities

Hi

I'm looking into the SONOS architecture as a way of providing a cheap streaming solution for some extra rooms in my home - however it needs to work alongside the existing streaming based system I currently have. I have searched around on the forums and documentation and have not discovered the answers yet, my apologies if the questions have already been answered ...

1) You can configure the Sonos to read a network share on a NAS - what network protocol does SONOS support (I currently only run NFS on the NAS) ?

2) When the Sonos creates its "music index" of a shared folder on a NAS where is the index stored? If in the shared folder is there an option to place it within a sub directory away from the FLAC files?

3) Does Sonos support all the various sampling and bit rates for FLAC files (ie upto and including 24-bit) ?

4) Can all Sonos devices in a network be hard wired ? My home has some very thick walls / floors and as a result wireless struggles to get all around the place. If I do this can I disable the Sonos wireless ? (dont want it impacting on the wireless networks I already run).

5) Can Sonos work with a upnp server (eg MiniServer) rather than using its own music index and a shared folder ?
