Niles Speaker Selector Question

Hey Guys,
Been "lurking" on these forms for a yr or more and have learned A LOT from you smart guys.

Finally took the plunge...got a Play5, Connect & Connect:AMP. 3 Zones all working GREAT!!

So great that I want to add more, BUT need to stretch the dollars a bit more on this implementation.

Want to add 4 more zones connected to 1 Connect:AMP. (Workshop, HomeGym, Craftroom & Dining Area).

I’ve read the advice about using Niles in wall impedance matching Vol controls (thanks Buzz!)…my problem w/that is that the speakers are installed in the ceiling and run to central closet…no wires in individual room walls.

So to avoid tearing up the drywall trying to fish new wires down the walls…I was looking at using a: “Niles SSVC4 Black Speaker Selection and Volume Control System FG01043”.

I anticipate using single location most of the time, sometimes 2 locations simultaneous and occasionally ALL locations for that whole home background music effect.

My question is what setting do I use for the “Impedance Magnification Setting” switch (Choices are 1,2,3/4) - For example: if I’m only using the Gym speakers should I set the switch to “1”…then when I want both GYM & WORKSHOP change the impedance switch to “2”….etc. Seems kind of a pain (and NOT very Wife/Kid proof). Or do I just set the impedance to “3/4” regardless of how many are actually turned on (is this safe for the Connect:AMP?)

Thanks in advance!
- John
