I have a large Sonos system in my home. I just bought a new Play:5 to add to my workshop which is about 500 feet from my home. I realize I cannot use the Sonos mesh wireless network to connect due to the distance. Therefore I purchased a TP-Link TL-WA5210G access point which I have installed in my workshop. My intention is to use the Play:5 hard wired to the LAN port on the access point.
I connected the access point LAN port directly to the Play:5 and then connected my laptops LAN port to the other LAN port on the Play:5. In this configuration I can surf the web via the laptop with no problem confirming I am connected to my home network.
Using the Sonos software on the laptop I select add new Sonos component. Then I press volume up/mute on the Play:5. The Sonos software says new component found and begins to install only to time out and then say component not found.
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Darren
