I have just been bitten by the sonos bug and in a week I had one and now two play:1's, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, or the kitchen, or the mancave, its been moving all over the house.
I want more! I really love it.
I have thought that perhaps to justify putting a Play:5 in the living room I could hook it up to my flatscreen and return my soundbar.
I have read the threads that say it can be done with the 3.5mm jack, but what I want to know, is, how does it sound???
I just went from a full-on 5.1 home theater to a Sony HT-XT1 platform-type soundbar. (This because, as recent empty nesters, we down-sized to a townhouse instead of a single familiy dwelling. Now we share walls so we down-graded the home theater).
The Sony XT1 is ok. I don't miss surround sound. Would the Play:5 doing all tv duties sound as good or better?
I know I'll love it for music.

Hi,
bin neu in der Sonos Welt, habe seit 2 Monaten einen PLAY:1 und eben den 2ten bestellt.
Kann ich den erstmal zuhause problemlos einrichten UND nachher auch in einem anderen WLAN Netz betreiben, muss man dazu den RESET durchführen?
bzw. wie ist das generell gelöst den Play:1 auch mal bei Freunden zu nutzen? Kann man auch nur das WLAN ändern OHNE die Playlisten und settings zu verlieren?

I have configured Deezer as a service in my Sonos setup.
If I start a Deezer playlist and then while it is playing I add songs too it, will that reflect automatically? Or do I need to select it for playback again?
What is the best practises for this? Should playlists be made in the Sonos itself or in their respective service?

Any inputs about how to connect my "Loewe ID 46 Connect DR+" TV to the Playbar, there is no optical output on the TV only a Audio digital output (coax) - should I use a converter ?

Dear all,
I'm thinking about buying another Play1 in order to make use of the Deezer premium subscription that comes with it. If I set everything up at home (in Germany) and take some of the devices with me to a holiday (in Denmark), will I be able to use Deezer there as well? Anything I should be aware of?

Hey everyone so my brother is going to be getting me a Play 3 for Christmas. Now I've found out that I cant use it alone on my TV so I'm going to be getting a Play 5 and possibly another Play 3. I've been reading up about a whole bunch of stuff but still get mixed answers. Don't know if it's needed but I'll tell you all anyways just in case my TV is the Vizio e600i-b3
First question is if I still need to get the bridge or is it only if my sonos are out of my router range (sonos setup will be in the basement where my router is).
My last real question is just if there is anyway to designate my Play 5 as the front speaker and the two Play 3's as my surround speakers, or if it will just group all three?

Just bought another playbar for the living room. The tv is in one of those cubicles that is above the fireplace that you see a lot these days. The bridge that I have had lives directly under that and has worked just fine for the playbar I have in the bedroom. I can not get the new playbar to join the system. Do I need a second bridge? Or better asked can you have more than one playbar to a bridge? I have tried wiring it directly to the router, directly to the bridge and standalone and no dice. Can it be too close to the bridge?
Suggestions?

Hallo Gemeinde,
nachdem ich gestern in einem großen Elektro"fachmarkt" mit dem "S" im Namen war, und eigentlich nach einer Soundbar für meinen Flat-TV schauen wollte, ist mir der Promostand von Sonos ins Auge bzw. Ohr gestochen.
Tja was soll ich sagen, eine Soundbar wurde es zwar (noch) nicht, aber ich hab mir mal so einen "kleinen" Play1 mitgenommen um das ganze ein wenig zu testen.
Derzeit steht dieser in der Küche und begeistert nicht nur mich sondern auch meine Frau. Cooler Klang und die Bedienung ist einfach genial.
Nun bin ich seid gestern am schauen und lesen und werde wohl meine Wohnung Ende Januar ein wenig aufrüsten.
Was habe ich vor:
- Playbar unter den Fernseher (Anfangs wohl erstmal ohne SUB, weil ich gestern festgestellt habe das die Playbar allein schon ganz guten Klang mache)
- Evtl. 2 Play 1 hinters Sofa
- Eine Play 1 ins Bad
Nun zu meinen Fragen:
Neben dem Fernseher steht hier noch eine Blueray Player und ein Media Receiver der Telekom. Jetzt habe ich hier 3 Geräte mit opt. Ausgang aber an der Playbar nur einen Eingang. Meine Idee war, alle Geräte mit HDMI an den Fernseher und mit opt. Kabel aus dem Fernseher raus und in die Playbar rein.
Nach gestrigem durchstöbern des Internets habe ich hier aber was gelesen, das es da teilweise Probleme mit der Synchronität gibt und die Playbar auch kein DTS unterstüzt. Nachdem ich hier etwas im Forum gelesen habe, machen das wohl einige Leute hier mit einem Toslink Switch. Ist dies die bessere Lösung und gibt es welche die automatisch Umschalten bzw. die Quellen erkennen?
Was mich auch noch interessieren würde, ist die Lautstärkeregelung bei verschiedenen Räumen.
Speichert der Sonos Lautsprecher die letzte Einstellung der Lautstärke? (Möchte in der Früh im Bad nicht gleich "angeschrien" werden :-p)
Wenn ich jetzt mal mehrere Räume zusammen fassen will und sie danach wieder trenne, welche Lautstärke bleibt dann?
Ich hoffe das war jetzt für den Einstand nicht zuviel Text?

Can someone say whether the Connect runs hot? I noticed last night it was much hotter than my amp, which I find surprising and also much hotter than my Play 5. However, this may be normal and I've just never noticed before. It is wired to my router. Anyone else noticed this?

Got latest Sonos version on iPhone and am playing music, I go into music folder and search for an album, select it an click on 'play all' and it does not play all tracks but seems to select at random and next track is then another track from previous tracks played, any suggestions??? duhh

Hello,
My first post as I have been unable to resolve my problem with Sonos myself today.
I have had a Sonos system for 4 months now and no problems have been experienced.
However today Sonos controller cannot access my windows music library - access denied.
Never had this before and no new software or updates have been added to my pc.
Nothing I do in terms of sharing my music folder works, nor deleting the folder and trying to add again.
I have checked all of my firewall settings and all is ok.
So why would is just suddenly stop being able to access my music library.
I am sure there is a fix but after looking through the forum and trying every little suggestion nothing works.
Anybody able to help.

I am mightily po'ed.
Bought an expensive (yes...) Play:5 last week, all went well for a while, and now I get this message.
Here's what happened:
1. I installed the P5 from my iPhone, OK
2. I installed Sonos on my Mac, asked me to index my library, OK
3. Installed it on my wife's iPhone, OK
4. Played from all devices OK
5. Then I left for a few days, my wife tried to play from her iphone, she had problems, but was able to play
6. Installed Sonos on my daughter's iPhone, OK
7. Tried to play from "This iPhone", got the above message. Tried everything I could think of from my iPhone, got nothing but this stupid message.

1. Can initial setup be done without internet? ie iPhone hotspot? I got up to the step to plug into a router, then came to a halt, (no router). If I were to gain access to SONOS controller software/apps for iMac and iPhone through a different location, would I then be able to move to my location (no internet) and use a Logitech Bluetooth adapter or line in functions? This would be strictly a temporary solution until I get internet after the holidays. Christmas wouldn't be the same without the Mistletoe Jug Band... Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I've bought a Connect Amp but my turntable won't play through it.
Admittedly it's a pretty cheap Sony turntable but it's fairly new and has a built-in phono preamp so i'm not sure what the issue is.
The Amp is definitely working as i can play music through my laptop.

Hallo liebe Gemeinde,
Seid einigen Wochen bin ich glücklicher Nutzer einer Playbar.
Ich nutze das Gerät für den Fernseher und Spotify.
Seid heute Morgen fiel mir auf das einige Titel nach weniger als einer Minute "geskipt" werden. Das trifft aber nicht auf alle Titel zu und es hatte bisher einwandfrei funktioniert.
Die Playlist haben wir selbst erstellt und sind uns sicher, dass alle Titel i. O. sind.
Das skippen passiert ohne erkennbares Muster, manchmal 3 Lieder in Folge manchmal 10 Lieder oder mehr garnicht.
Hat jemand vielleicht ein ähnliches Problem und das gar schon einmal gelöst?

This is an idea that I have posted in
ask.sonos.com a few days ago but I did not receive any feedback.
Maybe I'll be more Lucky here; if not then it's probably a stupid idea - or my English is too lousy and I apologize for that!
What I was suggesting is, when in the "now playing" screen, to have the capability to scroll through zones (or groups of zones) by simply swiping left or right.
Since version 5.0, I have to tap on the top right of the screen (the zone name) to bring the zone list forward, then tap on the zone or group or zones and repeat this if I want to go to another zone.
I really don't like this because the zone name is quite small and it's just not user friendly; left-right swiping has become so much natural with touchscreens now.
Today I prefer my CR200 with the hard zone button!
Any thought from the community?

Ich bin seit letzter Woche nun auch stolzer Besitzer einer Sonos Playbar. Wie schon von vielen gelobt hatte ich auch keinerlei Probleme mit der Installation der Playbar.
Es hat auf anhin gleich alles funktioniert.
Nun nach einer Zeit Nutzung ist mir aber etwas aufgeafllen was ich nicht so toll finde. Möchte es hier kurz beschreiben. Vielleicht mache ich auch was falsch oder das ist wirklich eine Schwäche von Sonos.
Also folgendes Problem:
Ich habe die Sonos Playbar an den TV angeschlossen und das Tonsignal kommt direkt vom TV vom opischen Augang. Jetzt ist es so, dass ich eine Cablecom Horizon TV Box besitze welche auch am TV angeschlossen ist. Dazu habe ich auch eine Playstation 4 angeschlossen.
Mein Problem ist, dass je nachdem was ich gerade benutze immer die Lautstärken verschieden sind. Wenn ich z.B. normal Tv schaue über meine Cablecombox muss ich recht laut machen. Wenn ich nachher am nächsten Tag nur mal Radio über das Sonos Menu (also ohne TV) hören will und einschalte ist der Sound extrem laut.
Ich finde es muss doch eine möglichkeit geben, dass die LAutstärke von jeder Wiedergabequelle genau gleich laut ist.
Versteht ihr was ich meine?

I have just setup a samsung 65H7150. I would really appreciate some guidance on one issue. Sound is perfect for tivo hooked to sonos playbar, sub and play 1's with optical cable using a monoprice hdmi switch . But when i switch to play any of the tv Apps , sound stays on TV. I am using a Tivo with cable card to watch tv. Sound switched automatically on my last set when i opened apps.
